With profound sorrow yet heartfelt gratitude, we gather to honor the memory of Brother Robert Koomson, a pillar of the Good Shepherd Church. From 2003 until his passing. He joined the Church with his wife sis. Rose Koomson and children at Praise Academy School premises where the church started from.
By dent of hard work and dedication to serve the Lord, in many capacity as Harvest Committee member from February 2004 to January, 2007, Harvest Committee Chairman February 2007 to 2012, where his strategic vision and relentless efforts significantly helped advanced church's missions.
Assistant Bible Class No.4 Leader and became substantive leader of same class. (that class is now Samuel Class where one of his daughter Sis. Rita Koomson is Leader and coincidentally Harvest Committee Chairman as well). Following his insight, he was appointed member of Leaders’ meeting and contributed meaningfully to decisions at meetings. A passionate Bible Class Leader, Brother Robert's deep understanding of the scriptures and his ability to impart wisdom and knowledge nurtured the Class' spiritual growth. His teachings were not merely lessons but guiding lights that helped many navigate their faith journeys with renewed strength and clarity.
During his time as Harvest committee chairman, he helped the church bought land at Bigman town and present location of the church at Kpomotey. He also used his technically inclination in Carpentry and Joinery as well as building construction to helped the church in some construction works.
As a leader, he often came to church with his wife and children. By this act of consistency and availing himself to the direction of the Holy Spirit, he inculcated the love of God and good neighborliness in his children and many that came to him. His life was a practical example for many and had direct bearing on his children as some are Leaders in the church, Lay Preachers, singing ministry members, Sunday School Teachers among others. This affirms Proverbs 22:6 ‘’Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he old, he will not depart from it’’ KJV.
As a founding member of the Men's Fellowship, Brother Robert's influence was instrumental in creating a strong brotherhood grounded in faith, fellowship, and service. His mentorship and friendship fostered a supportive environment where men could grow spiritually and support one another in their personal and collective journeys.
As Ecclesiastics 12:1 will put it; remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years’ approach when you will say, I find no pleasure in them. He was very mindful and strived to serve the Lord with all his might and resources. Indeed, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delight in his ways. (Psalm 37:23)
We agree with John Ellerton in MHB 976 vs 1:
Now the labourer’s task is over, Now the battle-day is past; Now upon the father shore land the voyager at last:
Father, in Thy gracious keeping leave we Thy servant sleeping.
Dayie! Dayie!! Dayie!!! Bro. Robert Koomson!
